connect Local Area Networks (LANs) and span large geographic areas like cities, countries, continents or the Globe.
They are established using dedicated telecommunication lines leased from telecommunication providers.
Internet is the largest WAN in the World, it is the "network of networks".
WANs are also used for connections between the On-premises LANs and the ones in the Clouds, as well as between the ones hosted on different sites in the Clouds.
